opening of the garson’s ice bar it’s an
outside to rass that is completely
constructed out of ice and it brings a
whole new definition to on the rocks so
I’m here with Chris at the opening of
the gar song ice bar and it’s chilly
there’s chestnuts being served and hot
wine as well boy stirs oysters as well
yes on the half shell yes perfect so
about how long does it take to construct
something like this well the guy came
Sunday morning with the blocks of ice
and he worked day and a night so he came
in around six o’clock every morning and
finished at around five o’clock every
night and he left this afternoon at
three o’clock he had a team of two
people and then towards Ana was just is
there an ideal outside temperature
because we are outside that needs to be
to stabilize and support something yeah
well this would be the ideal temperature
except it’s really cold I’d say minus
minus 5
ideal temperature was it late starting
because we’ve had a little bit of a
milder yeah we like to start it at the
beginning of January but unfortunately
because of the weather it was like plus
5 plus 10 degrees it wasn’t cold enough
to sustain us and about how long would
it last this will flee because actually
the way it’s constructed this year
hopefully it’s gonna last a longer than
last year so it’s well we’re gonna give
it probably about a month and a half two
months ok and then how does one get rid
of it you just bring in a big heater and
no well it melts in all the time the ice
gets more see-through as it notes and
then at a certain stage we have to make
a decision to take it off ok and we come
and demolish it like with the crane know
with hammers and stuff via its head
obviously body heat would factor in a
little bit so is there a maximum number
of people that can be in here at any
given time or does that matter not
really um not a lot of people would
stand out here for quite a long time
anyway so we pretty I’d say the most
people we have out here probably about
30 40 people
it’s pretty much the capacity of the
truss with the ice bar so but a body he
won’t really affect anything cuz it’s
pretty cool and how about people who
work here cuz obviously have to stand
here for more than a couple of minutes
yeah well there is a lot of shift
rotations 23 minutes at a time they
provide you with a swank for tonight yes
yes we have very nice warm warm for
coats after that you’re on your own no
may have fur coats as well but these are
these are quite nice perfect so it’s
been a good opening night then yeah yeah
