“Received Pronunciation” is probably the variety
most famous and most studied oral English in the world,
but only 2% of the UK population speaking.
So why is called “Received Pronunciation”?
Well, the word “Received” comes from the fact
it is received wisdom.
2% of the population speaks
“Received Pronunciation” has usually learned
from his education at the private school,
which means that it was a very small minority social
he received the “Received Pronunciation”
which is currently an accent
a little less desirable in the UK.
Thus, the “Received Pronunciation” constantly evolving.
The “Received Pronunciation” the BBC used
many years ago is quite different
the “Received Pronunciation” used moment.
Note an example of BBC English
for many years.
Sounds quite unfashionable
and even a little ridiculous.
